Some Thoughts on the Athanasian Creed

Emily Lutyens

The author studies the Creed, finding that while viewed with the concrete (literal, lower) mind it presents bewildering paradoxes, from another light it presents sublime truths designed to wrest the world from Theology and lead it towards Life. Mrs Lutyens was a prominent supporter of the Order of the Star (which published this tract), which announced “the near coming of a great spiritual Teacher for the helping of the world”, so arguably had a Theology of her own. Contents: Salvation/ God as Unity/ God as Trinity/ Man the Perfect/ Man the Pilgrim/ Man the Disciple/ The Judgment.
